Teeth Assessment

Since Zirconia veneers are very durable, they also require a steady foundation. Here are some pointers to take note if you are considering on getting them:

  • The foundation of your teeth must be healthy.
  • No inflammation on the gums or gingivitis.
  • Bite analysis and function of your pre-existing teeth must be evaluated.
  • Your cosmetic needs must be addressed

Teeth Preparation

Trimming
In order to place a new set of veneers on your teeth, minimal tooth reduction will be done. The idea is to remove the enamel in the front of your tooth to about the same thickness of the veneer that will be placed. For some patient who has high sensitivity, local anaesthetic can be requested.

Taking the Impression
Once the trimming is done, an impression of your teeth and surrounding gums will be taken. This will be sent to the laboratory for the fabrication of your Zirconia veneers.

Temporary Veneers
While Zirconia veneers can last you decades, it will only take a few days to complete them. It will be about 7 – 14 days for the laboratory to complete the set of your new veneers. During this time you will be given temporary veneers to cover the trimming and protect your teeth.

After taking your impression, temporary veneers will be placed on your teeth to protect it from any sensitivity it might feel due to the trimming of the enamel. You will be wearing these until your next visit for the insertion of your Zirconia veneers.

Final Veneers Fitting
When your Zirconia veneers are ready, you will be asked to visit the clinic again for the final fitting and checking. Once you are happy with the fit, shade and length, it’s time to say goodbye to your temporary veneers as your dentist will now bond your Zirconia veneers. This process may take up to 2 hours or more.

Should you wish to have any modifications, please let your dentist know immediately before the bonding process.

It may take about 3-5 more days for the laboratory to make the adjustments.
